The Chinese philosophy called Feng Shui translates in English to "wind and water." Centuries ago the people of Asia built homes along the river or in the mountains to supply food and shelter. They soon found out if homes were too close to the water great floods would carry them away. If they built too far up the mountain great winds would destroy their homes too.
Written evidence of this goes as far back as the Tang Dynasty. An entire philosophy developed using the five elements and many formulas for charting the best directions and predicting life events. These secret philosophies were highly guarded for the Imperial Family and the Chinese ruling class. Master Yang Yun Sang (888 CE). wrote books on capturing the dragon's breath on the landscapes now to be considered historical classics.
The hills were most desirable and to be considered the dragon. The key was to find the dragon and its entryway or breath of the dragon. Charting hills, valleys, waterways and mountains were the first written texts and the theory of the dragon ruling the East, tiger in the West, turtle in the North and the phoenix in the South.
This became the basics for landscape Feng Shui. This theory expanded with formulas to include Yin Yang cosmology, the five elements, the eight mansions and compass directions to elaborate into the Compass School of Feng Shui. Using the Lo Sho Square adds the time factor to give another dimension. Feng Shui has survived and in these modern times still uses the importance of the dragon breath or chi and how tapping into it can change your life.
The many ancient symbols of good fortune are still placed in homes today with reverence and positive results. Today modern features such as big cities and skyscrapers are designed by using the historic Chinese Feng Shui principals. The intention is still the same today was it was back then, to be lucky and live in harmony with the earth. Combining the old with the new is providing my consultations with integrity, honor and personal service. It is my privilege to study, practice and share the treasure of Feng Shui.
