2008 Forecast for the Year of the Earth Rat
Celebrate the Chinese New Year 4706 that falls on Feb. 7th, 2008. Fifteen days full of fun and celebrations of ushering out the Year of the Pig and welcoming in The Year of the Rat. dance the lion dance, eat fresh fruits, nuts and pass out lucky red envelopes filled with money to all the children. Give peaches and money trees when visiting now. Place firecrackers over your main door for good luck and be sure to place all cures in their appropriate location to tame the bad chi and support the good chi. This Year of the Earth Rat has many possibilities for opportunities. Welcome in the New Year with faith and good intentions.
As the story goes, the Deities of the Gods called all twelve animals together and they argued over who would start off the cycle of the 12 years. The Gods decided to have a race and whatever animal crossed the river first would start off as number one. All of the animals jumped in the river. The rat cleverly jumped on the unknowing ox's back and rode across the river jumping off just before reaching the other side to gain his glory. The pig was the slowest and came in last. That is why we celebrate the Year of the Rat as the starting year in a cycle of twelve. Anything that you begin this year, whether it is a move, job or romance is said to have a lasting effect for 12 years. Rats are industrious, hard workers, and business is sure to pick up under their helm. They tend to gossip as well. However, the Earth element will keep this trait somewhat in tact this year. Think big, be clever and read the fine print, most signs will hold the luck of the number 8 and plant the seeds of success.
The Rat is ruled by a fixed water element but this year it is the Earth Rat that is in power. Unfortunately, Earth and Water elements clash bringing destruction on Earth in the form of water. Predicted flooding, tidal waves, water spouts, hurricanes, are to be watched and forewarned. Included in the water disasters are the possibilities of tainted drinking water, polluted rivers, lakes and poisonous ocean tides. To have the knowledge is to have the power to protect yourselves.
